On Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin's birthday, on June 6, the traditional celebration of the Russian language for international students took place in the Congress hall of UlSTU ("Tarelka"). The event was attended by students from Afghanistan, Guinea-Bissau, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Yemen, Sudan, Eritrea, Tajikistan and Russia.

The holiday ended with awarding foreign students with letters of thanks for creative initiatives and the development of intercultural communications.

Annually on the 6th of June  birthday of the great Russian poet, founder of the modern Russian literary language Alexander Pushkin (1799-1837), Russian Language Day is celebrated in Russia and around the world.

In 2011, the President of Russia signed a decree on the annual celebration of the Russian Language Day in Russia. The holiday was established in order to preserve, support and further develop the Russian language as a national heritage of the peoples of the Russian Federation, a means of international communication and an integral part of the cultural and spiritual heritage of world civilization.
